It's A Winter Wonderland!!

Well, we finally got our big snow!  Last time they predicted this, it skipped over us and I was sorely disappointed.  This time we hit the jackpot!!  I went out and took a few pictures this morning.  I only stepped onto the porch.  It's cold out there!!

It's pretty deep!

We get very long icicles.

Aren't they amazing?

I had some fun trying to capture the tiny drops of water that were sliding down the icicles!

In this last shot you can actually see the crystal pattern around the edge of the ice, where the ice meets the water.  It looks like a knitting pattern or feathers!

I've been working on the house all week (still).  I am trying to get it to the point where it will be easy to maintain an acceptable level of cleanliness without that much effort.  I know this is possible because I have done it before.  I am very very close to having it there!!  Then I will finally get to what I really want to be doing, making jewelry!!!

I've also been feeling the itch to get back into some fun with mixed media and altered bottles.  I'll put a few pictures here of some bottles I made last year.  I don't know if I'll put any in the shop, because the shipping would be much more complicated and pricey.  I may in the future.  But for now, I just want to make them.

  1. Ah, the beauty of winter; you've captured it well.

  2. amazing icicles! I really love how you captured the ice crystals forming...i'm deciding on what ventures, artwise, to follow and pursue and its not easy...good luck with your cleaning process!

  3. Wow beautiful pictures! I'd take pics out here but the snow we've had is kind of pathetic so I won't just yet!

  4. Those icicles are amazing - I'm not sure I've ever seen them so long, even when I lived in Colorado!

I wanted to also thank you for your follow on my blog -- I finally figured out who you are (from Handmade Gift Guide Flickr) and I'm now following you!!

  5. Wow, thank you all for the nice comments. Yeah, we have these long icicles probably because we lose a lot of heat through the roof - not a good thing, but beautiful nonetheless!!

Thanks for following me Sarah!! I love the blogosphere!!

  6. You icicle photos are just stunning! Especially the close up where you can see the tiny crystals forming on the water droplet. Amazing!

  7. Thanks Cindy!! I stood out there like a fool, trying to get those shots - catching the drip as it dropped!! Took several round on my little memory card!!

  8. Your bottles are really cool! I just found you from link love, love your jewelry too!

  9. hi debi!! Welcome!!! Thanks very much for admiring my bottles!! I'm a bit overwhelmed with the link love and LOVING it!!! So glad you joined in!!
